Silver-Tongued Tom has never been able to shake his lifelong habit of licking shiny objects. First came “the aluminum foil years,†soon followed by a decade-long infatuation with glittery belt buckles. And how can we forget the crazy summer of ’99, when Tom experimented with fine cutlery, metallic candlestick holders, Olympic medals, rare coins, car mirrors, his mother’s jewelry, pots, pans, reflectors, wiring and, finally, dental equipment. All of this licking has, over time, turned Tom’s tongue permanently silver. Since children are frightened by strangers with long shiny tongues, Tom is now required by law to wear a muzzle when leaving the house.
